MP (Mr. Pat is what we call him around here) had a work dinner tonight. Doesn't happen all that often - but I benefit in the way that he brings home dessert. SO as I await my key lime pie treat, I'm "working" - which is often code for spending too much time browsing Facebook... but I am a digital marketing strategist - so we'll call it research.
I've had a blogging/writing/internet presence identity crisis for over the last two years. I started a blog in order to share with friends and family the joys of pregnancy and the impending motherhood experience, but the truth is that Facebook fills that square. Then it was simply an outlet for the random moment in which I am inspired to write about something - usually something that strikes passion within me - but it was inconsistent at best. Then there was the whole "to blog or not to blog" chapter in which people from all over commented "blog for yourself!" but the truth is blogging, or submitting any writings via the internet opens you up to being completely vulnerable to judgement in the event that your identity is known. The "things" that have transpired through the last two years are at times quite embarrassing - do I want them out there as ME.
Lately as I post my daily experiences as a new stay at home mom who works part time from the comforts of her home - I've been told I need to write a book. For the most part nothing that happens in our world is revolutionary, but I've been gifted with the ability to explain it in such a way as to emote great humor - aka - sometimes I can be quite funny. Well at least one or two people (including me?) think so.
So. Blogging is an odd forum. Really - write a book? I wouldn't know where to begin - I guess "Chapter 1: How I got here" would be a good start. The truth is that I have a lot to say and I fear saying it as me - but don't want to go anon.
For now we'll close with - "we may be here more often" and "my face is numb, my martini was too big."
Amen.
So...where are you posting your daily experiencesas a new stay at home mom who works part time? I love your writing be it facebook or blog. You always make me laugh. I got very excited (probably too excited) when I saw there was a new blog post up from you. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, I, for one, am happy to see ya back here in the blogosphere! Good place to start, if you're considering writing a book. Lots of love to you... you know I am following! xoxo
